I just adore Nashville! Nashville is such a unique town I love visiting. Last week I was lucky enough to spend a weekend in The Music City for my sister’s swim meet; whenever I hear the swim meet is in Nashville I always volunteer (with both hands) to tag along! My mom, sisters, and I all drove up there in about 3 hours on Wednesday night to stay with family friends! In the past we have stayed at the Hutton Hotel, which I recommend highly; Their Molton Brown Products and rain shower are heavenly! However it is always so much fun to catch up with out of town friends!
Thursday morning my mom and I started our trip off right by going to Barry’s Bootcamp Hard Core Abs Class. Working out while I travel is one of my favorite things to do as I love to see the different ways other people are sweating in different cities! Barry’s definitely impressed me as their staff was very educated on the workout and cared about your experience. As soon as we walked in the desk workers were very helpful and knew it was our first class when we gave them our names! The workers introduced us to our instructor, Anne (who had an AMAZING class by the way! Her energy is contagious! Check her out on the Barry’s Bootcamp Nashville schedule here), explained the workout, and showed us to our treadmills! The workout reminded me a lot of Orange Theory here in Louisville as it was intervals on and off the treadmill between running, incline walking, and floor work. Even some running backwards! I loved the dim lighting and loud music, the atmosphere truly makes it feel like a party! Another thing that thoroughly impressed me was as you walk in your smoothie order is taken so it is ready, fresh, and cold as you walk out of class! It was SOOO good I went back the next day for more (Okay, it wasn’t just because of the smoothie…but that sure had a lot to do with it!). My abs were so sore the next day but I was ready to take on Antonio’s Full Body Class! Antonio was just as fabulous as Anne and had amazing energy, I was so impressed yet again. I loved how the workout was the same style, but completely different! In this class we only switched between the floor and treadmill 3 times where before we had done 4, and the floor exercises were completely different to mix it up! Overall, I would definitely recommend Barry’s as a great workout with an amazing atmosphere and staff. I will definelty go back next time I’m in Nashville!

I love both of these pieces to run in because they are so lightweight, comfortable, and cute! Due to their material, they endure sweat fantastically by not smelling or weighing you down when they get wet!
After Barry’s on Thursday, we went to the swim meet for the rest of the morning before exploring Green Hills. One of my favorite parts of Nashville is all the local restaurants and shops. Thursday for lunch we ate at Food Company which I frequent every time I visit the city! Each time I have ordered a different sandwich and have yet to be disappointed, they are all so amazing! After that we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping around the Green Hills area and going to my favorite stores, H. Audrey, Posh, Snap Kids, Calypso St. Barth, lululemon, and then of course we visited the famous Bluebird Cafe to see what all the hype is about and get a picture!

This outfit was great to wear to the hot swim meet and then to run around town in all day! The temperature was 98˚F in Nashville so I loved my jean shorts and light weight Gap t-shirt to keep me comfortable and cool threw the heat! These shoes were also fantastic and so comfortable for a lot of time up on my feet!
Later that night we went to another one of my favorite restaurants, the Flipside. I adore this place because my favorite food in the world is Chicken. I love grilled chicken, which is the basis of their entire menu! The Flipeside’s menu consists of thinly cooked chicken paired all sorts of ways! Along with chicken their is salmon and salads, but I definitely highly recommend their grilled chicken! Along with the food, the atmosphere is amazing too as it is a modern diner with garage doors as windows! We ate on a beautiful night so the garage doors were up letting us enjoy the outdoors while the fans kept us from sweating during dinner! After dinner there was a “Before I Die” wall, my whole family loved writing on! It was a great way to end the day. Before we went back home though we made sure to stop at the Frothy Monkey for their “Socialite” tea, it is the best tea I have ever had hands down! I crave it consistently.

The next day we went to the swim meet in the morning after Barry’s again followed by a lunch at Taziki‘s and shopping at Nordstrom! While I don’t have much to report about Thursday I did snatch an adorable pair of Rag & Bone jeans, a Parker silk blouse (on sale!), and a brand new Alice + Olivia skirt I’m obsessing over! Don’t worry..you’ll see them all on the blog soon enough! Later that evening my family and I went to dinner back on 12 South but this time at Burger Up. I had never been to Burger Up but had heard so many great things and trust me..it exceeded my expectations!! My whole family ordered something different and obsessed over it all! I got a turkey burger with one of their salads, my sister (who is not a burger fan) got their grilled chicken with sweet potato fries she is still talking about, and my mom got the bison burger with french fries she says she’s been craving ever sense! I thoroughly look forward to the day I get to go to Burger Up again.

Saturday I decided to try a different workout I had heard great things about. Since I absolutely adore spinning, a friend of mine suggested we try the boutique fitness studio Krank and boy was I impressed ! While it may look small on the outside, it is much bigger than you expect! When you first walk in you see a room full of weights, bands, and TRX straps, I can’t wait to try their TRX class next time I am in town but for this trip, we just tried spin! This morning we went to a class taught by Nick. I loved this class because of the amazing schwin bikes, dim lighting, and organization of the class! When we first walked in we were placed on a bike next to another instructor who was very eager to help us. She immediately introduced herself and helped us set up our bikes. Even though I spin quite often, it is always nice to get a refresher on the basics from another professional with a different perspective! Overall the class was run very seamlessly as the music fit the choreography and the instructors obviously knew what they were doing. The energy in the room was felt all around, I will definitely be attending Krank many more times in the future! After the swim meet finally ended it was time for lunch and to head back home. Before we left there was no way we couldn’t stop in the Lululemon kids store, ivivva! This showroom on music row is absolutely adorable, it is the exact same as lululemon, but kids sizes! I also loved all the bright colors since Lululemon’s have been a little less bright lately. Next to ivivva however was Taco mamacita and my sister was having a major craving for mexican! While I am not the biggest mexican fan, I got a large taco salad and was pleasantly surprised!! This is another one I would definitely recommend.
Last but DEFINITELY not least…we stopped in the new store White’s Mercantile on the way out. This is an old gas station that is now transformed into one chic store ! All from the incredible creativity of it’s owner, Holly Williams. I am totally in love with it as it has a hodge podge of all sorts of gifts, clothes, accessories, furniture, food, you name it…… in all different price ranges! Everything in the store is so hip and southern I wanted one of everything! This store is where I purchased my beloved RetroSuperFuture sunglasses and my mom bought a unique necklace I am featuring on the blog within the next couple weeks! Outside everyday they also have food trucks pulled up for lunch or snacks! On this day in particular they had a snow cone truck we could not pass up..
While I am raving on basically everything we did in Nashville..I am not lying, it was an amazing trip. I was impressed by most everything we did and loved every minute of being there. Nashville is one of my favorite cities because of all the unique, fun, local things to do! Next on my list of places to go is imogene + willie…I did not get a chance to stop in there this trip but can not wait to check it out next time!
I hope this post was helpful for anytime you may visit Nashville and for some outfit inspiration!
I want to add a special thank you to our dear friend, Kelly King, aka, “hostess with the mostess” !
Until next time..xx,g
